Davisville Village ~~ A Prime Toronto Neighbourhood
Davisville Village got its name from John Davis, who immigrated to Canada from England in 1840. Davis was the community's first postmaster, and helped establish the Davisville Public School. He also owned Davis Pottery, which became the Village's largest employer.
Davisville Village attracts families, young couples and singles who enjoy the many amenities Davisville Village has to offer. A key part of the neighbourhood's attraction is its central location, with easy access to the subway and TTC.
Area Activities
Residents use Davisville Park as the centre for social and recreational pasttimes. The Park offers tennis courts for the active leagues in the area. The baseball diamond is kept busy with a host of adult and children's leagues.
The main shopping area for Moore Park is on Mount Pleasant, which offers a variety of restaurants, bars, movie theatres and interesting shopping such as The Art Shoppe, which is a 70,000 sq ft facility that houses an art gallery along with furniture and interior design stores. Davisville residents also shop on Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue where there is a plethora of gift shops, clothing and accessory stores, bakeries, cafes, and coffee shops.
Schools
The schools within the City of Toronto have very specific enrollment boundaries. It is advised that you contact the school you are interested in to see if they accept children living at the address before making your final decision on your new home.
Homes
Built mostly in the 1920's and 1930's, Davisville Village real estate offers a pleasant blend of smaller detached, semi-detached houses, and bungalows. West of Mount Pleasant are two- and three-story English cottages and Edwardian-style homes as well as duplexes and walk-up apartments.
East of Mount Vernon are smaller semi-detached houses and bungalos as well as a few historical homes dating back to the late 1800's. New custom-built homes are being added at a growing pace in this area. There are a number of newer condominium apartment buildings situated along Eglinton Avenue and on Merton and Balliol Streets. |
